Across the surfaces, beings move through spaces. They explore, journey, and adventure in a grand wandering across the fields of infinite being, into the worlds of bodies in space.
The figures live playfully together, like gods who have only recently discovered their powers. They practise a kind of alchemy or witchcraft, casting unforeseen spells, testing the edges of what can be made real.
Through fantasy we embody archetypal and magical forces with unusual depth and intimacy. We make costumes, stories, and characters. We dress, move, paint, and are painted. Becoming is real. The body is how the current gets into form.
These paintings try to engage the life force that stands behind all things. The erotic generative current that animates, overflows, and brings form into being. The works seek to emulate this force and bring it forth.
The worlds are childlike and they are not small. Play is how we change what is real, with the boundary making powers of an adult. Comedy keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously, while we truly believe we are becoming gods. Those two things live together without contradiction.
Like tarot cards, the paintings are dense with symbolism and open to many readings. They function as meaning generating machines, bridges that invite the viewer to project, explore, and generate their own significance. I may not have fully read a picture before it was made. That is fine. The work is offered as a living tool rather than a finished statement, and as an invitation to join the making.
There is nothing you have to understand first. Look. Whatever arrives is valid. Words do not do what the painting does. It is a feeling in the body.
